Amazon.com now has ZenPad S 8.0 (Z580CA) up for pre order

Amazon.com has started shipping out pre orders! From what we see, when Amazon shows In Stock, they get sold out quickly during the day.

This is the actual product name: Z580CA-C1-BK

Update: October 21, 3am ET – Now showing IN STOCK. We are still waiting to see the Asus TriCover case in stock, but hopefully the wait will be over soon.

Order Link: In Stock – Ships Now – ASUS ZenPad S 8 Z580CA-C1-BK 8″ 64 GB Tablet – From Amazon.com HERE

black-zenpad-s-8-0-z580c-z580ca-6The C1 indicated a top end spec model. The best of the best. We have tried our best to help you distinguish between the various models of the ZenPad S 8.0 that are currently being sold. This particular model is $299 and has a number of specs/features that the cheaper $199 ZenPad S 8 (Z580C) does not have. We have a comparison article here which should help you understand the difference between the $199 and $299 tablets.

So far, we’ve seen this top end ZenPad available for pre order in Canada, US, and France. There is a slightly less robust Z580CA in the UK with a slightly slower processor, less storage and less RAM, but it still has the other premium Z580CA features like the Z Stylus support, USB Type-C and “ac” wifi standard.

Also we should mention a couple things about accessories. So far, we don’t have official US pricing or release dates for ZenPad S 8 accessories. The Z Stylus and Tri Cover will be in high demand, so we’re expecting some news soon. If you’re wondering about the unique cases like the Audio Cover or Power Case, those are not compatible with the ZenPad S series and will only work on the ZenPad 8.0 and ZenPad 7.0 models.

I was waiting for Amazon to pre-order, but when the cart charged sales tax for my state, I chose to use B&H instead since it didn’t charge sales tax, a $20 difference.

I hope that amazon also starts carrying the Pen and Case. This seems like a perfect pdf reader (high res screen, in a compact form factor)

    • Staff August 5, 2015 at 11:55 pm #

Agreed. The accessories right now are VERY illusive. We hope to break news on accessories, but the question is when. We’re digging for details!

I’ll be checking back here frequently for news on the pen and case. I really do hope this is a Galaxy Note and iPad Killer. I just need something to read my text books with and I am thinking this tablet will be perfect with EzPDF to annotate and mark up my textbooks with.

I’ve tried loading texts on older ipads and the experience was pretty terrible. Not to mention annotating was terrible.

As of last night the Amazon preorder kicks out an error when you try and checkout.

Anyone know if there will be more than 2 varients of the Asus Zenpad S 8 in the US? Or will the it just be this one and the one at best buy? I mainly plan to read and play some games. But think the 1.33 ghz CPU is a little weak. 5ghz in my house is pretty much the same as the 2.4ghz wifi. Though you can get 5ghzwithout ac as I can with my Sero7 pro.

Just wondering if the one at best buy is good enough since I can’t spend 300$ or if they will have a varient with the 1.8ghz CPU.

Are you 100% sure that the powercase will not be compatible with S 8.0 version? Since this seems to be the exactly same form factor, plus that would be stupid not to make it compatible with all 8.0 including S … I was ready to buy a S 8.0 but

Are you 100% sure that the powercase will not be compatible with S 8.0 version? Since this seems to be the exactly same form factor, plus that would be stupid not to make it compatible with all 8.0 including S … I was ready to buy a S 8.0 but with a powercase since I am afraid of the battery life.

  7. Josh August 10, 2015 at 8:41 am #

Hey! Anyone know whether there will be any LTE variant of the S 8.0 model in the future? Or its confirmed that there will not be any. Having LTE capabilities will make the tablet abit more of a complete package.

  8. Shawn August 10, 2015 at 2:14 pm #

The S versions do not have the removable plastic backplate which allows the lesser tablets to connect directly to the power and speaker cases. The S tablets are a little thinner I believe because of this and are therefore a slightly different form factor from what I understand.

  9. Eric August 10, 2015 at 3:34 pm #

Thanks for the clarification Shawn. For me unfortunately this is a no-go :(. I found this tablet really promising and the stylus was a real plus in today tablet world. However the Intel SOC is known to be power hungry compared to Exynos or SD. This is really stupid from Asus to prevent the use of their powercase, just to say “I have the thinnest tablet”.

If only the cases/covers would get released already! This wait sucks

    • Eric August 14, 2015 at 8:53 am #

      +1

    • Shawn August 14, 2015 at 5:01 pm #

Yeah, if we could buy the cases now it would make the wait for the tablet a little better. How the Z580C have been out for over a month with no accesories I have no idea. At this point the CA will be released as well before the covers. Not to mention the exclusivity period with Bestbuy with no real annoucement. And considering that Samsung tabbys coming out soon with no real rush (seemingly) to get the Zenpads out. It’s all kindS of wacky…

My amazon preorder just shipped. Will be here Thursday.

  12. SS September 4, 2015 at 2:49 pm #

out of stock again @ Amazon. Went to best early and missed the party yet again!

    • Staff September 4, 2015 at 2:54 pm #

Sorry to hear that. With what we’ve seen since pre order began, it’s worth checking into Amazon during the day. The status can come and go by the hour. Seriously. Frustrating? Sure it is. Good luck.

    I pre-ordered with B&H on Aug 19 and am still waiting…

    • Staff September 4, 2015 at 3:37 pm #

That’s incredible. Please update when you get it!

    • Lewis September 4, 2015 at 3:50 pm #

I talked to customer service at B&H today and they are expecting to get some in mid October.

    • Austin September 7, 2015 at 3:30 pm #

I just contacted Customer Service at B&H because I’m in the same boat and they told me mine will be arriving in the warehouse on October 10th. So much for those “You can buy it everywhere” articles that came out close to a month ago.

      • Staff September 7, 2015 at 11:17 pm #

I would be absolutely shocked if that turns out to be true. I’m going to have to look for other sources to verify that. If that were true, I would think Asus would have something to say publicly about delays. Afterall, it was a week or two ago that Asus made the available now statement for North America (US market).

      • Lewis September 9, 2015 at 3:24 am #

Note on B&H site says available November now.

        • Staff September 9, 2015 at 6:09 am #

I must say that is an extremely frustrating date to see. If that is not a mistake on their part? I’ll hold off on saying what I think. It’s better that way. I’m just not sure how that date would even be possible.

  14. Ss September 4, 2015 at 8:59 pm #

Please update us! Amazon removed 64gb!

  15. Networkdood September 5, 2015 at 9:39 pm #

The link to pre-order the 64GB on Amazon just goes to the 32GB version…

    • Staff September 6, 2015 at 5:41 am #

Amazon for whatever reason, is bouncing around on their listings. Right now? There are 3rd party selling with in-stock units. Higher prices of course. It’s very odd to see Amazon bouncing the listing around. It’s a good idea to go onto Amazon during the day because you might get lucky. We hope to get details about the actual Amazon supply though.

  16. Bob September 8, 2015 at 8:28 pm #

Hi, the 64GB was yesterday and today temporarily available for pre-oder, “in stock on 15th september” it says, so the pre-order link is only working if it actually can be pre-odered, otherwise you see only 32 GB. It’s a shame that Asus can’t deliver properly even in the USA, and still they want to launch worlwide soon…

  17. BRG000 September 9, 2015 at 11:18 pm #

I happened to check Amazon this morning at just the right moment apparently, they had ONE Z580CA available, which I immediately snapped up. Even with one day shipping their estimated delivery date is over a week away, but at least it’s on the way finally. I’ve been stalking amazon for this for weeks.

    • Staff September 9, 2015 at 11:20 pm #

Very nice! Was this from Amazon or a third party seller? Just curious. Thanks!

      • BRG000 September 10, 2015 at 12:58 am #

It was from Amazon (US, not sure where everyone that’s commenting is from) directly, so it didn’t have the ridiculous mark up of a third party seller. I really, REALLY wanted this tablet, but no way in @#$ was I paying some schmuck an extra $100 just because they got luckier than me and got one first.

        • Staff September 10, 2015 at 12:59 am #

Thanks for the reply! This should be encouraging news to other visitors to the site. It would be great to hear how you like it or what you dislike about it when you gets your hands on it. Thank you very much.

Walmart.com now has the 32gb version of the zenpad s 8. Im not sure about in store. But I notice the spot on the tablet display at my local store that had a older asus tablet was taken down a few days ago. So it may start selling in walmart if it already hasnt, soon.

    • BRG000 September 13, 2015 at 3:03 am #

Out of curiosity, I checked walmart.com, and the Z580C is selling for $209, plus over $12 in shipping. Wonder why they mark it up (my guess is pure, unadulterated greed).

  19. Puck85 September 13, 2015 at 3:32 pm #

Asus has horribly mismanaged this “launch.” Best estimates at B&H is that they get some in stock by November. By then there will be other similarly-priced tablets available for the holidays (I may just pick up the ACER Predator). Who knows when this will ever be available in reasonable quantities at this point.

And there is no indication this will be available in stores. MAYBE you’ll find it on Amazon or B&H online in the next few months, maybe not…

With no indication of when or where to get this thing, this could be heading towards the vaporware category…

    • Staff September 13, 2015 at 3:47 pm #

Considering the Z580CA is available in Canada (limited stock) I’m not entirely sure how much faith I’m putting into the B&H claims of November. I still haven’t found a second source confirming such a date, so for now, I would remain hopeful. If it was a month from today, even that would be unreal. Let’s hope, but we will post details if more info is found.

  20. Austin September 15, 2015 at 7:37 pm #

I gave up and ordered a Nexus 9 from the HTC sale today. Sad, because I really wanted this tablet.

  21. Kekinash September 16, 2015 at 3:09 pm #

As far as me this is only vaporware. Asus did a really bad job with the availability of this table. Shame on them. I have one order on B&H but for the time is gonna ship I pretty sure better tablets will be on the market and Asus is gonna lose a customer.

    • Staff September 16, 2015 at 3:26 pm #

I saw Amazon.com shipping out Z580CA tablets as of yesterday, so I believe it shouldn’t be much longer. In fact, I would start checking Amazon today to see. They must still be fulfilling pre orders.

      • Kekinash September 16, 2015 at 8:04 pm #

Let’s hope, because I already bought the case, USB-to go cable, and today the stylus from ebay. First time I buy accessories before the actual device…

  22. Rarchie September 16, 2015 at 8:11 pm #

I don’t buy that they’ve been sending them out as of yesterday. I have auto-notify on for them and newegg and have never gotten an email. Add to that I check manually around 2-3 times a day. I don’t know what the heck is going on but I’ve never seen a company botch something the way Asus is apparently botching this. Its not like the Wii or the moto360 where it was constantly sold out. Its changing from sold out to preorder to nonexistant (amazon listing still gone). This is weird and ridiculous and honestly makes me regret being excited about it.

If it was all just supply and demand then fine. This is something else and no word from Asus to clarify at all. Busch league.

Will the new tablet handle a spreadsheet app ?
